The 94th PGA Championship gets underway at Kiawah Island in South Carolina later this week.
The Palmetto State hasn't hosted a major, which is surprising given the state's reputation for golf courses. But it's no stranger to top events, as Kiawah Island hosted the 1991 Ryder Cup and 2007 PGA Senior Championship.
In total, 156 players will participate in this year's championship, including 13 previous winners. Many of the big names will be there, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and fan favorite John Daly. Wichita native Chez Reavie and Topeka native and Kansas alumnus Gary Woodland are the two golfers with local ties.
The tournament will be broadcast on TNT and CBS from Thursday through the end of the tournament on Sunday. TNT will carry the first two rounds, while CBS will join in for the final two days.
