Will Smith allowed two earned runs over seven innings in the start as the Royals earned an 8-2 win over the Orioles in Baltimore on Thursday night.
Smith gave up six hits and walked three while striking out five. Home runs from Alex Gordon and Billy Butler gave the Royals a 4-0 lead after the opening frame, and KC never trailed. The Royals scored two more in the third and one run in the fifth and sixth innings.
Gordon went 3-for-5 with the homer, a double, an RBI and two runs scored, while Butler went 3-for-5 with the homer, a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored. Aaron Crow and Jeremy Jeffress each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
