2012 U.S. Open Tennis Scores: Jack Sock Loses To Nicolas Almagro In 4 Sets

Jack Sock hung tough with Nicolas Almagro for three strong sets until the Spaniard pulled away in the fourth set to win, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-1. This match was close through most of it, and one commentator even described it as something like a tennis version of a chess match.

Both players hit the ball with tremendous power, with each serving up as fast as 135 mph. Almagro finished the match with 22 aces compared with Sock's 17. The 19-year-old Sock had to get treatment on his quad after the third set because his serve and return was so strong.

Almagro was still able to keep him at bay and then took control at the end as he dominated the fourth set.
