The race to land 2013's top-ranked high school prospect Jabari Parker is starting to heat up, and Bill Self's Kansas Jayhawks are firmly in the mix alongside a handful of other top programs as reported by The Chronicle.
Parker, a 6'8 small forward from Chicago, Illinois, currently holds offers from Duke, North Carolina, Michigan State, Kentucky, Georgetown, Florida and BYU in addition to the Jayhawks. He reportedly met with four of his top schools including Kansas last week, and is scheduled for a meeting with Duke, North Carolina and Michigan State in the coming days.
Though he still has not revealed any information on what his official visit list might look like (he can schedule up to five), Parker is every bit the elite scorer that recruiting services currently bill him as, and possesses the athleticism to make a huge impact from the moment he steps on the floor.
The best coaches in America are currently pushing as hard as possible in order to sign this kid, even though it's painfully obvious he will only stick around college for one season. Right now though, Self and the Jayhawks appear to be in an enviable position.
