Kansas Soccer Upsets No. 7 Oklahoma State

The Kansas Jayhawks women's soccer team upset the seventh-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls, 2-1, in a Big 12 Conference match on Friday night at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex in Lawrence, Kan. It was the Jayhawks' first win over a top 10 team since beating Texas A&M in 2008.

Kansas' Whitney Berry scored the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 70th minute, just one minute after Oklahoma State's Megan Marchesano evened things up. The Jayhawks, who improved to 7-2-1 on the season, also got a goal from freshman Courtney Dickerson. The KU defense withstood a flurry of late OSU attacks, blocking several shot attempts from the Cowgirls at the end of the match to prevent it from becoming tied. Kansas goalkeeper Kaitlyn Stroud made five saves, as the Jayhawks were mostly able to keep Oklahoma State, which had 14 shots on goal, out of the net.

Meanwhile, the Jayhawks kept up a solid offensive attack, getting 18 shots on goal. Berry led the team with four.
