LIVESTRONG Sporting Park has sold out for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier scheduled to be held on October 16. The United States Men's National Team is scheduled to host Guatemala in the final fixture of the semi-final round of qualifying. LSP has never before hosted a World Cup qualifier.
The fixture will be an important one for both national sides. The U.S. and Guatemala are tied atop the group with seven points apiece. Jamaica also sits on seven points, but they trail both the United States and Guatemala in goal differential (the first tie-breaker). The top two teams in the group will advance to the final round of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.
Prior to the decisive fixture with Guatemala, the U.S. will be facing Antigua and Barbuda on October 12. That game will be played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. Guatemala will be hosting Jamaica in their final home game of the semi-final round before heading to Kansas City.
The United States/Guatemala game is scheduled to kickoff at 6 p.m. CT on Oct 16. It will be aried on ESPN2, WatchESPN, and Univision.
