It took just one week in the SEC for the Missouri Tigers to earn some recognition as Marcus Murphy was named the conference's special teams player of the week on Monday.
↵In the second half of a 62-10 victory over Southeastern Louisiana, Murphy returned punts from 70 and 72 yards for touchdowns, the first Missouri player to ever score twice as a returner in a game. He also broke the record for punt return yards in the game with 180 on five returns on Saturday, surpassing the 156-yard mark set by Roger Wehrli, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
↵Murphy, a redshirt sophomore running back, missed the entire 2011 season with a shoulder injury and was given a medical redshirt. In the spring he was named the team's most improved tailback. He received five rushing carries on Saturday, recording 32 yards.
↵While Murphy returned five punts on Saturday, Missouri did not have to punt once during the rout.
