Former Kansas Jayhawk Thomas Robinson's professional career starts in earnest next month when the Sacramento Kings open training camp, the team announced Friday.

Instead of starting camp at home in the Northern California, the Kings have decided to take the first week of training camp on the road. The team will spend five days at the Team USA training facilities in Colorado Springs, CO. Head coach Keith Smart said the start in Colorado Springs would be a good bonding experience for his young team.

The players did an outstanding job this offseason of coming together as a unit on various occasions and this is just a continuation of that process of growing our team and moving it in the right direction. I’m looking forward to getting off to a well-conditioned training camp and productive preseason in preparation for opening night and the regular season.

Robinson played with the Kings Summer League team in Las Vegas, where he struggled for most of the ten days he was there. Despite that, Robinson is expected to be the Kings' starting power forward when camp opens next month.
