NFL mock draft 2013: With the first overall pick, the Chiefs select Geno Smith, West Virginia QB

SB Nation's latest mock draft has the Chiefs taking West Virginia QB Geno Smith with the first pick.

SB Nation's Dan Kadar released his latest mock draft Monday, and he has the Kansas City Chiefs selecting West Virginia QB Geno Smith first overall.

Smith's star has dimmed after a hot start to the 2012, but he should shake out as the top QB in the class when all is said and done:

Smith has flaws, undoubtedly. But he should grade out as the top quarterback in this year's draft. Because of that, he (for now) has to be choice for Kansas City. This season we saw Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin turn their franchises around as rookies. With the weapons the Chiefs have, Smith has a chance to do the same.

There is no consensus by any means with this pick. CBS Sports' Rob Rang and NFL.com's Albert Breer are both mocking Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel to the Chiefs.

Kansas City desperately needs a franchise QB to wash away the bad memories of Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn, but is Smith good enough to warrant the No. 1 pick? Andy Reid and John Dorsey have some tough decisions to make over the next few months.
