The Kansas Jayhawks won their 10th game of the season and their first Big 12 conference win of the year when they knocked off in-state rival Kansas State, 72-63, on Jan. 2.
The Jayhawks (10-2, 1-0) trailed 36-34 at the half, but a second half surge that saw Kansas drop 38 points to K-State's 27 propelled them to their second-straight Big 12 Conference season-opening win.
Senior guard Angel Goodrich led five Jayhawks in double figures, with 17 points and also added nine assists, five rebounds and two steals in the win. Natalie Knight added 16 points, while Carolyn Davis chipped in with 14 points and five rebounds. Monica Engleman and CeCe Harper added 10 points apiece.
The Jayhawks return to action on Saturday, Jan. 5 when they head to Morgantown to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers. The meeting will be the first between the two squads since West Virginia joined the Big 12 Conference. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
