Now that the 68 teams in the 2013 NCAA Tournament field have been selected, those who were left out turn their attention to the NIT selection show in hopes of getting a shot to win college basketball's biggest consolation prize. Last year, Stanford won with the help of some inspiring words from Ray Lewis. This year's iteration will probably be just as weird.
The NIT chooses a field of 32 teams, with automatic bids handed out to regular season conference champions who lost in their conference tournaments and were passed over by the NCAA Tournament selection committee. Per usual, the semifinals and the final will be held at Madison Square Garden, with the first three rounds taking place on the home courts of the higher seed in each game.
