The recruiting for the 2013 class continues for Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks with 7'0, 220 pound senior Joel Embiid. The big center who comes from Rock School in Gainesville, Fla. will pay a visit to Lawrence on Oct. 12 on an official visit during the Late Night in the Phog event.
Other than Kansas, schools on Embiid's list include some big programs like Florida, Louisville, UCLA, Marquette, Texas, DePaul, Wake Forest and Virginia.
Embiid, a 17-year old, has only been playing basketball for a single year. His youth and inexperience at basketball require some assistance, but a Rivals scouting report noted by KUsports.com said he was already well on his way to being a solid center:
"He has to get a little more flexible and add strength, but he is a high-level rebounder, alters shots, has good hands and does a good job of establishing and holding position," said Eric Bossi of Rivals.com.
If Bill Self can convince Joel to come to Kansas, it will be another notch in an already impressive 2013 class that he has put together.
