Dwayne Bowe's Fantasy Football Stats May Be Hurt By Matt Cassel's Injury Status

The Kansas City Chiefs have listed QB Matt Cassel as doubtful after undergoing an appendectomy on Wednesday. More than likely we're going to see QB Brodie Croyle starting against the San Diego Chargers. Croyle hasn't put up gaudy stats by any means during his time in the NFL.

That means the Chiefs receivers -- particularly Dwayne Bowe -- could be hurt by this in the fantasy football world. People who have Bowe probably should expect a game more like last week -- 0 catches -- than the ridiculous touchdown streak streak he went on.

Bowe's production will also be hurt by the Chiefs running backs. Last week the Oakland Raiders put up 251 rushing yards against the Chargers. You think the Chiefs paid attention to that? The Chiefs are the No. 1 rushing team in the NFL so you have to assume that a heavy dose of Charles and Jones is part of the equation on Sunday.

It's always possible the Chiefs get down early and are forced to throw the ball. The last time that happened came about a month ago in Denver against the Broncos. Bowe ended up with over 150 yards receiving that and Cassel threw for 469 yards. If that's the case, then all bets are off.

But the Chiefs have really only been blown out once all season -- that Denver game -- so I'm not sure we should expect anything else than what we've seen which is a game that's undecided going into the fourth quarter.
