NFL Picks Week 15: Can Anyone Figure Out Chiefs-Rams Line?

Many oddsmakers are not putting out a line right now for Sunday's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams. The reason is simple -- Matt Cassel. The Chiefs QB practiced on Wednesday one week after undergoing an appendectomy. Whether Cassel can go or not changes the odds in this game if last week's 7-of-17 performance by Brodie Croyle is any indication.

So will he be able to play?

Early signs are that Cassel will be able to play. He practiced on Wednesday, listed as "limited," and said he's going to prepare as if he's going to play. This is about as expected as Cassel would likely play if the decision were solely his. This is not just Cassel's decision though as the Chiefs coaching and medical staff will weigh in as well.

So if he plays, what will the line be?

My early guess is that the Chiefs should be 1-2 point favorites though I've seen some places list the Rams as a one-point favorite. This game may be headed to pick'em status as there doesn't seem to be a consensus in the world of oddsmakers right now.

If it's my money, I'm taking the Chiefs, even with their struggles on the road (6-0 at home, 2-5 on the road). The Chiefs lost last week because the Chargers were simply dominant in every phase of the game. I don't see that happening this week with St. Louis and I fail to see where the Rams have a significant advantage.

If this is a close one -- St. Louis is incredibly improved and well-coached -- but I'm taking Kansas City by a field goal.
