Matt Cassel Injury Update: No Decision Yet On Whether Chiefs QB Starts

Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel was listed as questionable heading into Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams after an appendectomy caused him to miss last week's loss to the San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs have declared Cassel active for today but there's still no definitive word on whether Cassel will start. Just because he's active, doesn't necessarily mean he'll start.

Folks at the Edward Jones Dome report that the "warmups weren't pretty" meaning there's a chance he's simply active -- but as a backup.

If the Chiefs have to go with Brodie Croyle, it will be somewhat of a blow. Croyle didn't look very good last week as he completed just 7-of-17 passes for 40 yards. You would think he'd put up better numbers than that against the Rams but either way it's not encouraging news if Cassel can't go.

It looks like the decision on Cassel -- whether he'll start or not -- will truly be game time. The game kicks off at noon at which point we'll find out for sure whether Cassel is starting or not.
