Colorado Head Coach Job Offered To Former KC Chiefs Assistant Jon Embree

[Update: And of course the Colorado comes out and denies the Denver Post report.]

The Kansas City Chiefs had an incredible situation at tight end from 2006-2008 with position coach Jon Embree. Much of that success can be chalked up to the presence of future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez but Embree's work in KC landed him in Washington with the Redskins after the new Chiefs regime came in.

His next stop may be a head coaching job. According to the Denver Post and legendary coach Bill McCartney, Embree has been offered the head coaching job at Colorado.

McCartney said that Embree, currently the Washington Redskins tight ends coach, has been given a formal offer, and CU is hoping he accepts and then hires former Buff great Eric Bieniemy as his offensive coordinator.
That would be a nice move up for the former Chiefs assistant coach. Others on the "A" list included
LSU coach Les Miles, Air Force coach Troy Calhoun and former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti.
