The New England Patriots will be hosting the New York Jets on Monday Night Football in what may just be the game of the year in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs of course have multiple connections to the Patriots with guys like Scott Pioli, Charlie Weis, Romeo Crennel and Mike Vrabel.
There's also Matt Cassel, who was drafted by the Patriots and played 15 games for them in the 2008 season. Cassel said on 810 WHB Monday morning that he'll take the Patriots against the Jets this evening. He didn't offer up any reasons why other than to say he has some old friends on the team.
The Patriots and Jets' game will be arguably the best of the year and it will finally provide a slight bit of clarity in the AFC East. The winner of this game will enter as the front-runner for the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the loser could lock up the top wildcard spot in the NFL playoff picture.
The Patriots have the No. 1 offense and the Jets have the No. 5 defense so it should be a great matchup.
As for Cassel's pick, I have to agree with him. The Patriots seem to show up in big games and none get bigger than this one. I'll predict a 23-20 Patriots victory.
