Fantasy Football Advice: Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles

Rushing: 34 carries, 238 yards, 1 TD

Receiving: 5 receptions, 92 yards, 0 TDs

Through three weeks: Charles has been frustrating at times for fantasy owners because he's averaging a whopping seven yards per carry and yet he hasn't had more carries than Jones in a game yet. However you want to slice it, Charles is once again playing out of his mind. NFL players simply don't average seven yards a carry -- and this isn't an aberration. He neared six yards per carry last year. He's been what we expect with Charles: catching balls out of the backfield, doing a lot with the ball every time he touches it and still a threat to score from anywhere.

Advice: The Chiefs say they operate on a matchup basis in regards to their running backs. Last week, they played a stout 49ers defensive line and you would think that would favor Charles, and not Thomas Jones, but it was Jones who received the majority of the carries. I suspect the Chiefs will go with Jones getting more of the touches for the foreseeable future but Charles is good enough that it doesn't matter a whole lot. He's averaging over 100 total yards per game.
