Mike McCoy Expected To Stay In Denver; Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Search Continues

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy was believed to be the Kansas City Chiefs top candidate for the same position though we haven't heard officially from either side on that. It sounds like the Chiefs may not get the chance to hire McCoy if they wanted to.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports McCoy is expected to remain in Denver. The Broncos hired John Fox on Thursday and McCoy was on Fox's staff in Carolina for six years before coming to Denver in 2009. It makes sense that Fox would stick with what he knows and what's already in place.

Chiefs head coach Todd Haley suggested this week he could once again call plays but I imagine he'll do all he can to find a coordinator first. One of the objectives with a coordinator is their experience with quarterbacks because they'll be expected to work closely with Matt Cassel.

That means the Chiefs coordinator search moves on for now. Other candidates' names that have come up include Tampa Bay QB coach Greg Olson, others on the Arizona Cardinals staff and in-house candidates.
