The Green Bay Packers are expected to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers -- well, if you believe the Super Bowl odds. The oddsmakers have the Packers as a 2.5 point favorite over the Steelers right now. I'm not so sure I can agree with that line at all.
The Steelers, in my mind, are the better team though the Packers are very good. Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger is going for the third Super Bowl of his career and the Steelers defense is among the best in the NFL. The Packers aren't too shabby themselves at quarterback with QB Aaron Rodgers and the Packers defense which ended the season ranked second in the NFL.
I'm not quite ready to make my prediction yet but I'm leaning to Pittsburgh right now. Maybe I've seen them more often since they're in the AFC but this is a complete team and they find a way to win. Plus, they've won six of their last seven Super Bowl appearances. Roethlisberger is quickly showing he'll go down as one of the best quarterbacks in history. QB Tom Brady gets a lot of attention but Roethlisberger could tie him in Super Bowl wins.
The reason I can't quite pick Pittsburgh confidently at this point is Rodgers. This guy is having a great postseason and he's shown how dangerous he can be. If he goes off, Pittsburgh could be in trouble. But I'm confident that the Steelers can stop him from going completely crazy.
So the early odds favor the Packers by 2.5 points over the Steelers.
