Multiple mock drafts have the Chiefs grabbing an outside linebacker to complement the tremendous pass rush Tamba Hali provides on the other side. It’s a solid argument and given the expected run on pass rusher hybrids that could play either defensive end or outside linebacker around the Chiefs spot at No. 21, that’s not surprising.
The player most linked at that position — both on the field and in the draft — is Georgia’s Justin Houston, an incredible athlete who has a nose for the football and great instincts that consistently placed him behind the line of scrimmage and disrupting plays. In 2010, Houston had 18.5 tackles for loss to go with 10 sacks (second in SEC).
Some scouts question his make-up and motor, with Tom Melton saying that he runs too hot and cold. But Melton also thinks he’s a horrible fit in the 3-4 even though that’s the very scheme Georgia runs.
