The Kansas City Chiefs season is still going on so we don't know exactly what their draft position would be but it'll be sometime after No. 20. The Chiefs will have plenty of options for their selection and it won't be like the last few years when they've been picking in the top five and there are only a few candidates for the pick.
SB Nation's first 2011 NFL mock draft is out and they've got the Chiefs selecting....
22. Kansas City Chiefs (10-6): Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh (JR). Dwayne Bowe has been several kinds of awesome this season, but he'll be a free agent following the 2011 season, and he's the only receiver opponents need to pay attention to. Baldwin has excellent natural talent.
I go back and forth on whether I think the Chiefs will take a receiver in this draft. The need is certainly there, even with Dwayne Bowe's resurgence. The Chiefs know their priority is on making Matt Cassel the best player he can be (because that's what good teams do) so from that perspective I could see a receiving coming to town.
But looking back at GM Scott Pioli's history, there are an awful lot of other positions that would be in play including defensive or offensive line.
For the first time in four years, though, the Chiefs season continues on after the regular season and NFL draft talk is tabled for at least a week.
