2011 NFL Draft: Mock Has Chiefs Taking Offensive Tackle Nate Solder

A few days ago, we highlighted the Chiefs draft position as a possibility for taking an offensive tackle or lineman, since draft values and boards should put them a bit lower than typical years where the best linemen go quite high. That’s good news for the Chiefs who have needs along the line and a lower draft position at No. 21.

Thus, it’s not surprising to see the latest SB Nation Mock Draft predicting a tackle for the Chiefs. This time around, the choice is Nate Solder, a beast at Colorado who really performed well in last week’s Senior Bowl.

Mocking the Draft has a lot more on Solder for those wanting detailed analysis, but their final word looks good for Chiefs fans:

A converted tight end, Solder remains a work in progress as a blocker. His technique is extremely raw and he’ll need a lot of refinement. With that, it’s surprising Solder has been as good as he’s been. A first team AP All-American in 2010, Solder has more upside than any early round lineman in this year’s draft.
