NFL Power Rankings, Week 6: Chiefs Climbing Out Of The Cellar

Signs of hope in Kansas City after the offense leads a 17-point second-half comeback against the Colts.

It hasn't been pretty, but consecutive close wins over two of the worst teams in the NFL have steadily pushed the Kansas City Chiefs out of the bottom of the latest NFL Power Rankings from SBNation:

23. Kansas City Chiefs (2-3, LW: 27): KC puts up two in a row but those wins came against two winless teams. A win against Oakland after the bye, and that Halloween game against San Diego is all of a sudden a big one.

Letting Curtis Painter and the winless Indianapolis Colts get out to a 24-7 halftime lead isn't going to impress many, but the Chiefs showed a remarkable amount of fight to rally back to a 28-24 victory that might have saved their season.

The offense looks suddenly revitalized, with Matt Cassel throwing 2 TD passes each to Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston while fourth-year running back Jackie Battle came out of nowhere to rush for 119 yards on only 19 carries.

Heading into their bye week, Kansas City can rest up and prepare for a Week 8 game against Oakland that could push them right back into the AFC West divisional race.
