The Chargers set a different tone in the second half by wearing down Kansas City in a 10-play, 62 yard drive that took off almost six minutes, but couldn't find the end zone again. Nate Novak hit 44-yard field goal, and the Chiefs still lead the Chargers 13-6 despite San Diego doubling K.C. in first downs (12 to 6) and leading total yardage by 100 yards.
Jon Baldwin's explosive first half has been blemished in the third quarter, as a tipped pass from Cassel ended up tying the turnover count at 3-3, and giving the Chargers the ball back when defensive back Eric Weddle came up with the INT. Some cold comfort for the Chiefs - once again, Phillips Rivers couldn't convert in the red zone on third down, and Novak hit his third field goal of the night. Kansas City has only run three plays in the entire third quarter.
