After not earning a single first down on the ground the entire game (and going three and out the entire second half), Kansas City's offense woke up and ran down the Chargers' throat to start the fourth quarter. Jackie Battle scored his first touchdown of the season on a goal line leap, after a longer touchdown run of 19 yards put the ball on the one yard line of San Diego. Kansas City now leads 20-12.
The Chiefs rode Battle for 43 yards on the scoring drive, which more than doubled the team's rushing total for their entire game (78 after the scoring drive). Despite the 74 yard drive that took almost five minutes, San Diego still leads the game in yardage, time of possession and first downs - just not points.
