NFL Power Rankings, Week 9: Chiefs, Raiders, Chargers All Huddled Together

The AFC West standings aren’t the only place that the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders are huddled together. All three teams currently stand at 4-3 in the win-loss column and all three are also placed together in the latest NFL Power Rankings from SB Nation at No. 15, 16 and 17 respectively. The Chiefs are likely on top because they just beat the Raiders and Chargers in consecutive weeks.

The Chargers were at No. 7 last week and now they fall to No. 16 after two straight losses to the Chiefs and Jets. SB Nation’s Joel Thorman writes, “It’s only fitting to put all three AFC West teams tied for first place right in a row here. But while we’re here — Philip Rivers’ fumble was terrible. Just terrible.”

As for the Raiders, they had a bye week to adjust to Carson Palmer as their new starting quarterback. They sit at No. 17 and Thorman writes, “The Raiders are the last AFC West team grouped here but they’re in a tie for first place with the rest of the gang.”

The Broncos round out the AFC West at No. 29 and it’s amazing they’ve even won two games to this point based on how they looked on Sunday. Thorman’s commentary reads, “Last week Tim Tebow was horrible for 55 minutes and great for five minutes. This week, he was just flat-out horrible. The Broncos were crushed by the Lions and Detroit players publicly and anonymously mocked Tebow.”
