Denver Broncos Defeat Kansas City Chiefs 17-10 Behind 244 Rushing Yards

The Denver Broncos lost their starting halfback. Then they lost their back-up running back. Despite the losses, the Broncos ended up running the ball quite effectively to beat the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium this afternoon 17-10.

The Broncos finished with 55 carries as a team for 244 yards and an impressive 4.4 yards/carry. Everyone ran well — from quarterback Tim Tebow to wide receiver Eddie Royal to third string halfback Lance Ball. The Chiefs run defense was poor all day long and despite Tebow’s horrible passing accuracy, the Broncos were always in control.

As for the Chiefs, Matt Cassel finished 13 of 18 for 93 yards and one touchdown. Jackie Battle had 61 yards on 9 carries and that’s pretty much the entire offense.

The Chiefs move to 4-5 on the year, tied with the Denver Broncos in second place along with the San Diego Chargers. The Oakland Raiders are in first place at 5-4.
