Sixteen tackles. One sack. One interception. Yep, those are the types of numbers that win awards.
That's exactly what Derrick Johnson, the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker, was able to do this week by winning the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award after the monster performance on the national stage known as Monday Night Football. The only thing louder than the home crowd was the Chiefs second straight strong defensive performance and Johnson anchored this night all the way.
He becomes the second straight Chiefs player to win the award after Brandon Flowers won it last week after shutting out the Oakland Raiders on the road. For the season, Johnson has 77 tackles and he's now ninth on the Chiefs all-time list for career tackles.
