Darrius Heyward-Bey Injured, Leaves Vikings-Raiders Game On Backboard

The Oakland Raiders have lost a major offensive weapon today in a very scary way when Darrius Heyward-Bey, the former 7th overall selection in the 2009 NFL Draft, went down with a head injury today in the Oakland Raiders-Minnesota Vikings contest. According to Vikings Update, "Darius Heyward-Bey will be leaving on a backboard after getting the back of his head hit by E.J. Henderson's knee."

The Raiders will now have to depend upon Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore among others for Carson Palmer's primary targets. Thus far on the year, Heyward Bey was breaking out enough to stop the calls for him being a draft bust. He had 27 receptions for 434 receiving yards and 1 touchdown in 2011. The good news is that even after he was taken off on a cart, he was sitting up on the sidelines. Whether or not he will return is currently unknown.
