The story of Keary Colbert's return to the NFL was a nice subplot for the Kansas City Chiefs heading into the regular season, but in the end the move didn't work out as the team has announced the release of Colbert to make room for their new quarterback, Kyle Orton. Earlier this preseason, the Chiefs made waves by signing Colbert to a deal in the preseason and then keeping him on their active roster over other players. It was a scouting video that got him signed and it was his strong presence in practice that got him to stay. On the season, Colbert had 9 catches for 89 yards and 0 touchdowns. In his NFL career, Colbert has played with the Panthers, Broncos, Seahawks, Lions and now Chiefs.
