Over the past few games Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston have separated themselves as viable fantasy starters in your respective fantasy football leagues. Most people that are in tune with fantasy football knowledge knew of Dwayne Bowe already because of his breakout year in 2010. He was a must start receiver from the first game of the season. But Steve Breaston has come along nicely for the Chiefs recently averaging 72 yards per game over his last five games. That includes a game high 115 yards last week against the Dolphins.
Another player that you should be safe to start this week is running back Jackie Battle. Depending upon your teams' particular situation Battle could be a better option than some other guys you might have on your team. The reason is pretty simple. The Chiefs have shown this season to be able to bounce back after a loss and the Chiefs offensive line was atrocious against the Dolphins. There should not be a repeat performance.
The Chiefs will look to get back to the basics against the Broncos and that is running the football. It's a divisional game and that means one thing, physicality. And that is exactly what Jackie Battle brings to this offense. His 14 carries against the Dolphins had more to do with the score than anything else. Matt Cassel was second on the team with nine carries, that should tell you something about how the offensive line was doing. You should expect between 15-20 carries (probably closer to 20) and between 70-90 yards and at least one touchdown. He won't carry your fantasy team this week but he should be able to put up starter-quality numbers for your team this week.
You can roll the dice with Matt Cassel if you have a two-starter league at the quarterback position. But as bad as the Chiefs offensive line was in pass protection last week, I think it's safe to say that they'll remedy this problem by working and preaching pounding the rock this week. The Broncos are 15th in the league against the run by giving up 115 yards per game. They have struggled against the pass as they are 23rd in the league in that category by giving up 258 yards per game through the air. You can roll the dice with Cassel but expect the Chiefs to try and pound the ball early and often against the Broncos.
The Chiefs you need to start this week are Bowe, Breaston and Battle.
