Casey Wiegmann Injury Means Chiefs Could Be In Serious Trouble Along Offensive Line

Casey Wiegmann has been a staple in the middle for the Kansas City Chiefs over these last two seasons and for several before this for any team he’s suited up for. The center has played in 170 consecutive games and has played in 10,838 consecutive snaps since 2001, according to Josh Looney. Now he might be out with a finger injury.

This is very problematic for a Chiefs offensive line that’s already down a guard who is limited in practice in Ryan Lilja. The Chiefs have Rodney Hudson who can be versatile along the offensive interior, but he obviously cannot fill both slots. Jon Asamoah and Lilja are both needed if Hudson will man the middle. On the official depth chart, Hudson is the only back-up to all three interior spots.

The team also dropped Jared Gaither from the roster and brought David Mims to join Steve Maneri as the only back-up linemen on the roster. In other words, if the Chiefs suffer an injury of any kind to anyone along the front five, they are going to be in serious trouble.
