NFL Picks, Week 17: Chiefs Over Broncos, San Diego Over Oakland

It's a division without a clear winner or even an elite team to boast of and even the last place Kansas City Chiefs had a real playoff chance to play for through week 16. It's been that sort of season.

If our predictions come true for the NFL games of week 17, then the Denver Broncos will still win the AFC West due to the fact that the Raiders will also have lost to the Chargers. While anything could happen, obviously, we have the wrong teams winning in week 17 as an homage to the topsy-turvy season the division has endured. It's a division without a clear winner or even an elite team to boast of and even the last place Kansas City Chiefs had a real playoff chance to play for through week 16. It's been that sort of season.

Here's our AFC West picks for week 17:

Kansas City @ Denver
Tim Tebow and company are licking their wounds from an unexpected shellacking at Buffalo's expense, and it's clear that teams are figuring out how to defend the option as Tebow's winning streak has come to a quick halt. The Denver defense that was once so celebrated allowed a stagnant Bills team to gain 40, although Tebow's four interceptions played a major part. But KC's defense is much better than Buffalo's, so unless Denver learns how to change course quickly, this could be more of the same.
Chiefs 21, Denver 20

San Diego @ Oakland
This could be Norv Turner's final game on the sidelines and the Chargers are usually red hot by now. Yet this season, the Chargers have nothing to play for. However, even though the Raiders are second in line to the AFC West title and could get in if the Broncos lose at Mile High, the Raiders played pitifully last week in their win at Arrowhead. Expect Philip Rivers to end the season on a high note and walk away feeling much better about the season's second half.
Chargers 28, Raiders 10
