The Kansas City Chiefs are already represented by two players on their defense when it comes to the newly announced AFC Pro Bowl rosters for 2012 in Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson. Both players certainly deserve their honor given to them with the stellar seasons that they’ve enjoyed. Johnson has come out as one of the best overall linebackers in the NFL this season, and Hali remains one of the single best pass rushers in the league. However, another player also deserves consideration and his name is missing even from any “snubs” columns: Brandon Flowers.
The Chiefs cornerback is one of the best lockdown corners in the NFL and he even won AFC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season. He continually shuts down the opposing team’s best receiver and can stay with anyone in the NFL. For the year he ended up with 56 tackles and 4 interceptions including one for a touchdown.
The AFC picks at cornerback include Darrelle Revis, Champ Bailey and Jonathan Joseph. While the first two are locks, including Revis every year, Joseph is a toss up although it’s hard to argue with the difference that the Texans defense has made this year. Still Flowers is among the NFL’s best and that’s what the Pro Bowl celebrates.
