NFL Mock Draft 2012: Todd McShay Completely Off On Justin Blackmon

Opinion, by definition, is subjective. To call one guy’s rankings wrong is really a fruitless exercise since it’s all meaningless one way or the other. With that said, it’s hard to ignore Todd McShay’s latest list of the 2012 NFL Draft’s best prospects when he has Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon so low. As in, Blackmon is No. 11 on his list. Eleven.

The reaction should be immediate for anyone reading the list since it’s clear that a number of teams atop the NFL Draft list will need a dynamic playmaker a la A.J. Green and that Justin Blackmon is the best of them all. He won the Biletnikoff Award just last year for being the best wideout in college football and he’s a strong bet to do so again this year.

McShay writes, “Blackmon’s production has been off the charts over the past two years, thanks to great hands, good ball skills and impressive body control.” McShay might like Blackmon as a wide receiver, but he clearly believes he’s behind other positions more important on the field. But tell that to the Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars or St. Louis Rams who will all be selecting early in the draft with an eye on a playmaker for their new quarterbacks.
