NFL Draft 2011: Chiefs' Plans Still A Mystery

2011 NFL draftweek is here and I'd be lying if I said I had really any idea on where the Kansas City Chiefs will go with the 21st pick. The Chiefs probably don't know exactly who they'll pick because so many things can happen with the 20 picks ahead of them but they have an idea of who they're targeting.

The needs, depending on who you ask, will be nose tackle, offensive tackle, center, receiver, outside linebacker...in no particular order. The Chiefs seem most likely to hit on outside linebacker or nose tackle in the first round, I think. If I had to guess today, I'd say outside linebacker.

A receiver is probably the pick most fans want but I just can't see that happening. A.) I don't think it's GM Scott Pioli's style to select a receiver that high and B.) I don't think there's a receiver worthy of the 21st pick right now.

Then there's always the option of the Chiefs trading down. I think they wouldn't mind doing this if it meant stacking up on second and third round picks. Frankly, I think Pioli would prefer to do that if it meant acquiring more picks. That's the reason you have to be prepared for every pick in the draft -- you never know where you'll end up.

So draft week is here which means we're only a few more days from finding out where the Chiefs will pick.
