Kansas City Chiefs Release Shane Bannon, Sign Lucas Patterson To Practice Squad

The Chiefs have released fullback Shane Bannon, per kcchiefs.com. Bannon was the 7th round draft pick in 2011 for the Chiefs out of Yale. The signing of LeRon McClain this offseason made an already crowded backfield even more crowded, and may have contributed to Bannon’s release. Bannon struggled to impress during the preseason that saw Mike Cox and LeRon McClain take the majority of snaps at fullback.

Patterson, a defensive lineman out of Texas A&M joins the practice squad for the Chiefs just a day before the season opener against the Buffalo Bills.
