Adam Schefter has the official word on the Oakland Raiders head coaching opening with the report that the team talked to former Dolphins interim head coach Todd Bowles for several hours yesterday. He's the first official candidate the team has talked to since ridding themselves of the headache known as Hue Jackson, and Schefter says the team is going to talk to four more candidates. With that official number out there, it's clear the team has specific candidates in mind they're going after.
Jackson was let go after the team brought in Reggie McKenzie from the Green Bay Packers to become their general manager. Jackson had become quite emotional after the season ended and left the Raiders at 8-8 and on the outside looking in. The team also has very little in the way of draft chips for this coming 2012 NFL Draft and the Raiders are already on the wrong side of 30 at several positions. Thus, McKenzie has his work cut out for him.
