Phil Emery may be the front runner to land the vacant Chicago Bears general manager job. Emery is the current director of college scouting for the Kansas City Chiefs andreceived a glowing endorsement from Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli.
"He's one of the hardest workers I've ever been around," Chiefs general manger Scott Pioli said. "I can't overemphasize the hard working part. He's outstanding at his job. Detailed, meticulous, organized."
The Chiefs probably aren't in any hurry to have to replace their college scouting director especially if Emery is as good at his job as Pioli suggests. However, it is good to see them looking to help one of their own advance their career with a step up even if it is with another organization.
Emery came to the Chiefs as scouting director from the Atlanta Falcons on a recommendation from Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff. He was instrumental in the Falcons decision to draft Roddy White who eventually would develop into one of the top receivers in the league.
