NFL Draft 2012: Josh Norman Compared To Chiefs Brandon Carr

Coastal Carolina only has two NFL alum in their history, but Josh Norman is definitely going to add a third name to that list. The cornerback is rising up draft boards rather quickly with his top showing at the recent East-West Shrine Game, and he has been called a second rounder by one mock analyst and a Top 100 candidate by another. Clearly he’s coming off the board around Day Two.

But the corner is also earning some solid comparisons to a certain Kansas City Chiefs corner who is going to be earning a big paycheck this off-season. Scouts Inc. compares Norman to Brandon Carr of the Chiefs, a player who has started every single game since entering the league four seasons ago.

“Norman’s technique is raw. He opens his hips early, struggles to get out of his backpedal smoothly and needs to get stronger. His biggest challenge might be maintaining his focus and attention to detail. However, Norman’s tools are impressive, and he might be the best athlete on the field this week. He is smooth for his size (6-0⅜, 203), has good speed and natural instincts, and appears to have some ball skills.”
