The list for the Chicago Bears GM job has been pared from five down to two, and Kansas City Chiefs college scouting director Phil Emery made the cut.
He will have a second interview with the Bears on Friday, a day after the other finalist, the New England Patriots Jason Licht.
Emery and Licht beat out a strong list of front office personnel from around the NFL, including Marc Ross of the New York Giants, Jimmy Raye of the San Diego Chargers and Tim Ruskell of the Chicago Bears.
Chicago, which already has a franchise QB in Jay Cutler as well as a strong defense, led by Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs and Julius Peppers, is one of the most attractive openings in the league.
Emery has been in football for 31 years, and has spent the last 14 seasons in the NFL, working as an area scout for the Atlanta Falcons as well as their college scouting director before joining the Chiefs organization in 2009.
