Chiefs vs. Chargers: Glenn Dorsey returns for Kansas City for 1st time since Week 3

It's been a long year for Glenn Dorsey, one he'd like to forget. The same could be said for the Kansas City Chiefs. It's not clear just how much those two things correlate, but the Chiefs might find out tonight as the defensive line will be energized with the addition of starting defensive end Glenn Dorsey for the first time since Week 3 against the San Diego Chargers.

The Chiefs and Chargers square off tonight for their second AFC West battle of the season on Thursday Night Football, and it's a good time for Dorsey to show up again. He's in the middle of a contract year, so a solid showing on primetime would go a long way toward reestablishing his value.

A calf injury has kept him out for the last several weeks, and statistically he only has three tackles on the season. The Chiefs defense has struggled all season, so it's hard to tell whether it's any single player or largely the fault of the coaching staff. Still it can't hurt to finally have the line that everyone hoped they would with Tyson Jackson, Dontari Poe and Dorsey lined up in the base defense.

For the sake of his long-term value and the Chiefs minuscule chances at competition this season, here's hoping that Dorsey comes back strong and helps anchor the run defense against San Diego.
