It takes a special kind of awful for a team to be three-point underdogs at home to a 3-8 team. Ladies and gentleman, the 2012 Kansas City Chiefs.
Kansas City is projected to lose by a field goal at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, who just earned their third win of the season Monday night against the similarly awful Philadelphia Eagles. The over/under opened at 41½.
At 1-10, the Chiefs are in the driver's seat for the No. 1 overall pick in next year's NFL Draft. Being projected to lose at home to the team tied for the worst record in the NFC suggests there probably isn't any team the Chiefs, who have struggled to find consistency at quarterback with either Matt Cassel or Brady Quinn all season, would be favored over at this point in the season.
The Panthers and Chiefs kick off at noon CT on Sunday. The game will be televised by FOX.
