Chiefs vs. Colts odds: Kansas City is a touchdown underdog

The oddsmakers expect a competitive game on Sunday, regardless of the two teams' records.

USA TODAY Sports

Indianapolis, at 9-5, is playing for a berth in the playoffs, while Kansas City, at 2-12, has long since begun evaluating the top prospects for the 2013 NFL Draft.

Nevertheless, the Colts are only favored by 6.5 points in their road game against the Chiefs this Sunday.

For Indianapolis, a road game in Kansas City is sandwiched between two games with Houston, making it a must-win game for a team looking to lock up the top Wild Card spot in the AFC.

The Chiefs' playoff appearance in 2010, meanwhile, has never looked farther away as they stumble through a brutal season both on and off the field. Only two of their twelve losses have come by fewer than six points.

If there's any consolation for Kansas City fans, it's that Indianapolis was in the same position last year. Of course, the big difference is that the 2012 NFL Draft featured two franchise QBs, while the 2013 crop may not feature any.
