NFL Mock Draft 2012: Bernard Pierce Provides Chiefs With Mid-Round Running Back

Bernard Pierce of Temple is hoping to raise his draft stock at the upcoming NFL Combine. The talented running back is capable of doing so, but Drafttek has his current level in the middle of the 2012 NFL Draft, which means a team like the Kansas City Chiefs will earn the payoff of such a talent falling so far. Paired with Jamaal Charles, it could be a dynamic duo for the Chiefs.

Pierce flies under the radar for many, but fans will love him once he signs with whichever team grabs him. He ran for over 1,400 yards this last season for Temple and rushed for 27 touchdowns in the process with a 5.4 yards/carry average.

Wes Bunting says that Pierce is suited for a No. 2 role with a team, which the Chiefs would provide that scenario. He writes, "Possesses good size, natural feel inside and some good cut back ability. Isn’t real powerful though and runs a bit upright. Doesn’t look like a great fit for an angle scheme at the next level like they ran at Temple. Is more of a zone guy in the NFL because of his vision and cut back ability. Could fight for a starting job over time, but might be better suited to play the number two role. "
