Kyle McCarthy Signs With Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have made the addition of defensive back Kyle McCarthy official, announcing the acquisition on their official site. McCarthy comes to Kansas City from Denver, where he played in 12 games with four tackles over the last two seasons. Originally an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame where he played in 50 games for the Irish, McCarthy signed with Denver in 2010.

McCarthy originally made the announcement through his Twitter feed, which is a little unorthodox by NFL standards. He's expected to serve primarily as a special teams player for the Chiefs, who hired two new special teams coaches this offseason under Romeo Crennel. McCarthy was available before the beginning of free agency because he was cut by the Broncos before their Wild Card game against Pittsburgh in January.
