NFL Mock Draft 2012: Chiefs Select Jonathan Martin In First Post-Combine Mock

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports has come out with another mock for the 2012 NFL Draft after the NFL Combine and before the free agency period starts. Yet nothing has changed for the Chiefs even after a full week of looking at college prospects and hearing rumors about various positions.

Jonathan Martin is the selection out of Stanford for the Chiefs, filling some holes along the offensive line in the process. Prisco writes, “They’ve had problems on the right side of their line, and Martin could step in there, even though he was a left tackle in college.”

Martin is a common name linked to the Chiefs in the first round and he would shore up the line no matter how the Chiefs wanted to use him. Even if they moved Branden Albert inside and looked for more tackle help elsewhere, that would also strengthen the line with Ryan Lilja likely moving to back-up the interior positions. For a team that had little to no depth last year, that’s a major move either way.
