NFL Draft 2012: Dontari Poe Models His Game After Ndamukong Suh, Haloti Ngata

If you read the options for the Kansas City Chiefs at defensive tackle right now, the results will not look good. Kelly Gregg is a free agent again in a few days after signing just a one-year deal with the team last offseason. Anthony Toribio is available. Jerrell Powe was the developmental late round selection from the 2011 NFL Draft. Thus the Chiefs are going to need to do something at the position.

After Poe’s 44 reps of the Combine’s 225 pound bench press, Poe set himself apart from everyone else. Michael David Smith writes that his heroes are exactly who NFL teams are hoping he will become.

“Poe says the defensive tackles he models himself on are Casey Hampton, Ndamukong Suh and Haloti Ngata, and he said he thinks he can fit into any defensive line, in a 3-4 or a 4-3 front.”

The Chiefs could definitely use an anchor like that up front that will further free up pass rushers like Tamba Hali and Justin Houston.
