NFL Free Agency Update: Kyle Orton Draws Redskins Interest, Chad Henne Visits Jaguars

The latest buzz in the quarterback market has some interesting visits scheduled for some players as they try to find a new home and possible starting nods for quarterbacks on the fringe like Chad Henne, Jason Campbell and Kyle Orton. For all three, the important elements of a new contract are not just about money but opportunity as well. All three have also been linked to the Chiefs as possible competition for Matt Cassel.

Jason La Canfora says Orton has drawn the eye of the Dallas Cowboys, where he’d be Tony Romo’s back-up, and the Washington Redskins, where he’d be Robert Griffin’s back-up. It doesn’t make any sense for him to go to either place unless he was content with not having a real chance at the starting nod without an injury. After all, even though Griffin is a rookie, the reality is that the fan base and front office will both yearn to see the man they paid so much for.

As for Henne, the former Dolphins quarterback is taking multiple visits and should be in Florida for a bit with the Jags. Jacksonville will be a great place to land for him given the failure of Blaine Gabbert to inspire much confidence in his first season. Seattle is also on the board for Henne.
